Come and Sing - English Part-Songs, Settle Parish Church

Tim Knight will lead you through the day in his inimitable relaxed style, inviting you to immerse yourself in that 'peculiar to England' form of music - the part song - with examples by Sullivan, Stanford, Vaughan Williams, Elgar and others, a complete treasury of English song. More information about pieces to be included will follow based on numbers and balance of voices.

The timings for the day are set out below (these aren't set in stone but are usually about right!). The Singer Ticket price includes music for the day and refreshments. Lunch is at your own expense and can be consumed at the venue or there are plenty of lovely local eateries in the delightful Dales market town of Settle. The town is accessible by car and there is limited parking next to the church and a large (very reasonably priced) pay and display car park opposite the church. However, many people come by train and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the railway station is approximately a 10 minute walk to the church. Some people also build in an extra few days around our sing days and there is much to offer in this area - the 'Welcome to Settle' website is a great resource for information about the area.

You can visit the Settle Parish Church's website for more details about the venue, but we will send out full details about the day and a music list closer to the event (we don't send the music out in advance or provide rehearsal tapes as these are not necessary but it is a fast-paced day of learning so some sight-reading capability is a definite advantage). 

Each singer who attends the event will be given a £5.00 Tim Knight Music Voucher which is redeemable against future Sing Days, Holidays or selected products bought on the day.

Registration and Coffee:    10.30 - 11.00 

Rehearsal session 1:             11.00 - 13.00 (includes a short break)

Lunch break:                            13.00 - 14.00 

Rehearsal session 2:             14.00 - 16.00 (includes a short break)

'Round up' of the day:          16.00 - 16.30
